The How I Learned Series features writers, storytellers, comedians, and other raconteurs holding forth on a different theme. It all happens every last Wednesday of the month, and sometimes more than that, which basically means you will have the best night of your life on those nights, repeatedly.

How I Learned We Were Breaking Up

The Brothers Gibb, and later The Reverend Al Green, famously asked some pretty serious questions. How can you mend a broken heart? How can you stop the rain from falling? How can a loser ever win? Obviously, there's only one answer to all of these questions. You attend this month's reading, the theme of which is How I Learned We Were Breaking Up.

I guess you could do something else instead that's not nearly as fun or as satisfying for your heart and your soul. And maybe for your drinking habit. I could be projecting here. Anyway, I know you'll make whatever decision is right for you.

Yours Forever No Matter What,
Blaise

DAN ALLEN is a NYC-based comedian and writer. He has appeared on Comedy Central's PREMIUM BLEND, is a co-producer of the Time Out New York's Critic's Pick monthly comedy show ¡SACAPUNTAS! and the weekly podcast IN THE TANK WITH JOHN FISCH. He's the creator of FlockofMullets.com and TaoOfDan.com. He is eternally writing Kevin Bacon's fictitious biography in the sixth person.

LYNN HARRIS (www.lynnharris.net) is an award-winning journalist and author of the comic novels DEATH BY CHICK LIT and MISS MEDIA. She is co-creator of the superhero BREAKUP GIRL, who helps men and women with romantic emergencies and saves love lives worldwide. A retired standup comic, Lynn also wrote and co-starred in the Off-Off-Broadway show LYNN HARRIS ON ICE. She currently writes for Salon, Glamour, the New York Times, NPR.org, and many others. She is believed to be the only person who completes this trifecta: member of the Friars' Club, Daughter of the American Revolution, wife of a rabbi.

MENACHEM KAISER is a writer, a contributor over at The Huffington Post and a blogger pontificating on all things book-ish. Disheartened after his first writing gig (for a Canadian wedding magazine) imploded, he traipsed around the globe, traveling, teaching, dancing, performing, chicken-raising, tour-guiding, and occasionally penning incomprehensible articles for sketchy foreign journals. He's also a proud alum of the Toronto School of Circus Arts, and falls madly in love with anyone who can properly pronounce his name. (Try it.)

DIANA SPECHLER is the author of the novel WHO BY FIRE. She has written for Esquire, Nerve, Glimmer Train Stories, and elsewhere. She teaches for the Gotham Writers' Workshop and is at work on her second novel. Visit her online at www.dianaspechler.com.
