Since 2009, How I Learned has featured some of the best live storytelling, comedy, and readings in New York City. It all happens a couple of times a year, and sometimes more than that, which basically means you'll have the best night of you life on those nights, repeatedly.

DAN ST. GERMAIN
 has been seen on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, John Oliver’s NY Standup Show on Comedy Central, The Electric Company, Guy Code on MTV2, and elsewhere. He’s written for The Onion Sports Network and The Onion News Network, and has been featured on WTF with Marc Maron, and Sirius Radio. Dan’s the creator and star of the web series Kicking Dan Out featured on My Damn Channel and co-hosts a weekly podcast with Sean Donnelly on Cave Comedy Radio called My Dumb Friends. His shorts have appeared on the front pages of Funny or Die, Best Week Ever, and The Huffington Post.


STEVE ZIMMER has been telling stories since 2006. His storytelling highlights include:  Moth Radio Hour, Moth GrandSLAM champ, Moth Podcast, Moth   Mainstage and  Moth YouTube series.  Steve is originally from the Midwest and grew up in Illinois before moving to The Moth.


LANE MOORE is a stand-up comedian, writer, actor, and musician/music-obsessed personShe is currently a writer for The Onion and Ms. Magazinemanaging editor of truTV‘sDumb As A Blog, and a former editor for Jezebel She also co-created a comic book based on her experiences in Los Angeles called Smarty Pantswhich can be found in stores throughout the U.S. and Canada. And no, she doesn't sleep very much at all. 


JIM O'GRADY has worked as a reporter for The New York Times, professor of journalism at NYU, and research director at The Center for an Urban Future, a policy think tank. He is now a reporter for WNYC Radio. He has won ten Moth storyslams and a Moth GrandSLAM, and has told a story on This American Life. He has a message for all you hatahs out there... but forgets what it is.



JEFFERSON is a New York-based writer, sex educator, and storyteller. He is curator and host of two storytelling shows: Bare! True Stories of Sex, Desire and Romance, and Spill! True Stories of Queer Sex, Desire and Romance. Each show runs monthly in both New York and Washington, D.C. Jefferson is the winner of How I Learned's inaugural reading/storytelling slam, Storytimes. He blogs at One Life, Take Two.
