Since 2009, How I Learned has featured some of the best live storytelling, comedy, and readings in New York City. It all happens a couple of times a year, and sometimes more than that, which basically means you'll have the best night of you life on those nights, repeatedly.

HOW I LEARNED IS BACK WITH A 5-YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOW. This show will be in a rock venue, with a rock band, because we are adults now and we can do what we want. Also, I don't care if you feel weird about hugs. I will be coming in for one anyway. (The "Best In Show" Show also returns!)

Here's the event on Facebook for your RSVPing pleasure.

DAVE HILL is a writer, musician, comedian, and man-about-town. He is the author of Tasteful Nudes, and he recently slid into Tom Scharplings's weekly Best Show slot on WFMU with The Goddamn Dave Hill Show. It's okay because they are friends. Dave's writing has appeared in The New York Times, McSweeney's, and VICE, among countless others. He is also a regular contributor to This American Life with Ira Glass, and has appeared on BBC-America, VH1, Sundance Channel, and Comedy Central. Dave is also the lead singer and guitar player for Valley Lodge.

BETH LISICK is a writer and performer and the one who every girl wants to be when they grow up. She is the author of four books including Everyone Into The Pool and Yokohama Threeway. She has told stories at Lollapalooza and SXSW. She is also the co-founder of the celebrated Porchlight Storytelling Series in San Francisco.

HALLIE HAGLUND is an Emmy Award winning writer for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. She has also written for The Hairpin, among many others, and she was featured on RISK! live at The PIT and on the RISK! podcast. Hallie was also a member of the UCB Theatre in Los Angeles, but she moved here to New York which works out really well for all of us.

VALLEY LODGE is a rock / power pop band heavily influenced by Cheap Trick, Thin Lizzy, Big Star, and T. Rex. The band is comprised of Dave Hill (lead vocals, guitar), Rob Pfeiffer (drums), Phil Costello (guitar), and Eddie Eyeball (bass). They recently released their third full-length album called Use Your Weapons. They frequently play at the Bonaroo Music Festival and will be touring New York City and beyond in 2014, mostly for the sex, but also for the money.
