Since 2009, How I Learned has featured some of the best live storytelling, comedy, and readings in New York City. It all happens a couple of times a year, and sometimes more than that, which basically means you'll have the best night of you life on those nights, repeatedly.

DAVID CARR, ICONIC JOURNALIST, SURVIVOR, CHARMING CURMUDGEON, A REALLY GOOD DUDE

David Carr passed away suddenly today, after collapsing in his office at the New York Times. When I read The Night of The Gun, I asked David Carr if he'd be on How I Learned.

He emailed back saying, "Happy to do! Happy to say yes now and will hate it with the force of 10k suns when I go up." He also added, "That book actually sucks. You've been warned. xo."

He did the show and, of course, he nailed it. Thank you, and rest in peace, sir. You will be sorely missed.

(David Carr, 1956 - 2015)

P.S. If you've never read David's memoir, The Night of The Gun, do yourself a favor.
